Housewife To Hornbag – Master The Art Of Layering
Layered your wardrobe is a style term describing a way of dressing using several items that are worn on top of each other. Layering is a perfect way to dress for winter, especially when the mornings and evenings are cold with warm days, or for walking in and out of heated places, or if like me – going through menopause.
Learning the art of layering is easy when you know-how. Layering is the perfect way to perfect more styles in your wardrobe and allows for flexible clothing to match the needs of each of your situations.
Today I want to make the “art” easy for you so you can master laying for yourself.
As you can see in the video, begin with two core items from your wardrobe. A simple top, which my favourite this winter is the long sleeve bamboo t-shirt, a staple that will be in my wardrobe for years.
With the long sleeve t-shirt, you can team this with any of our pants or the gorgeous a-line skirt, which is your first layer.
Your next decision is what to wear over the t-shirt. I often wear a bamboo short sleeve t-shirt in another colour over the top for a casual style or one of our fabulous camisoles for a dressier style. When you place the blazer over the top, you only see the camisole and not the t-shirt, but you stay warmer.
Then throw on one of our fabulous coats, which today I wore the white faux fur coat, a pair of funky shoes and you are out the door, ready to throw on or take off throughout the day and remain stylish.
Our aw19 collection is full of mix and match layering pieces for you to own forever. Most items can be worn in many ways. We now have many clients who have sold off all their “fast fashion” items to wear our “slow fashion” items. They have told me how liberated they feel having few items in their wardrobes, but so many more styles to wear.
Love your clothes and wear them daily. Please don’t wait for the special event – love being stylish and gorgeous every day, no matter what size or shape you are.
