An Interview With An Inspirational Woman

An Interview With An Inspirational Woman

Today is International Women's Day 2019, and the campaign theme is #BalanceforBetter.

A balanced world is a better world, but how can you help forge a more gender-balanced world? By celebrating women's achievement and raising awareness against bias. Take action for equality.

The team at Cazinc The Label decided we wanted to interview someone who we see inspiring women in so many ways, someone who loves women and wants to help forge a more gender-balanced world. There is so much more to Caz Rowland than the blog and the label. She helps many women and causes behind the scenes, which has blown us away in the time we have worked for her. Our team are so humbled by Caz and grateful she is helping women, including us, because if there weren’t a blog and a label, then we wouldn’t have a career with her, (a career we love mind you!).

Here is our interview:

Who is the woman who has been a significant influence on you?

My glamorous Mum Rae and I at the beach in the 1960’s.

My glamorous Mum Rae and I at the beach in the 1960’s.

Many women inspire me, but the one who has had the most significant influence in my life is my gorgeous mother, Rae. Mum was the ultimate blonde bombshell “glamour” girl of the ’60s, which is where my passion for style and fashion was introduced. Health and fitness are also important to me, which is due to my mother’s strong past in the fitness industry in the 1990s during the aerobics movement. Mum wasn’t only a fitness leader; she was a legend who helped many women not only with fitness but with friendships; the women she met over her fitness journey are still her friends today.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

It is refreshing to see how today women have more choices, more places to turn to and more influence in a world that is becoming more gender-balanced than in the past. I witnessed my mum leave a toxic marriage when I was six years of age, when there was little to no support financially and emotionally for women who did this, and I watched my mother struggle to the point where she fed my brother and I and not herself. It was tougher to leave a relationship of this nature back then, and thankfully now as I approach my 52nd birthday, there is more government support and charities, such as St Kilda Mums, to assist.

It is fabulous to have a day where we can reflect on how far women have come over the years and think about the women from the past who have not only supported us along our journeys but inspired us to keep travelling along the right path.

What are your greatest achievements in life so far?

Interesting question, gee my team is tough! But without a doubt, it would have to be three things. The first is raising my four beautiful children and maintaining a friendship with them now they are adults and enjoying their relationships with their partners, who I love like my own. The second would be staying madly in love with my gorgeous husband over the past twenty-seven years. Our relationship is terrific, and my heart still skips a beat when he walks in the door. The third would be my years of study to become a stylist, therapist, blogger and now the fashion label. My inspiration has been helping so many people, especially the couples I worked with and the many women whose life has changed as a result of my years of study.

Why did you decide to start your fashion label?

For over 15 years, I have been educating and styling women on how to find and wear clothes that suit them, and teaching them how to shop to create the wardrobe of their dreams that works effortlessly for all occasions.

Even though I knew what I was looking for when shopping with these women, it was still stressful, as often I couldn’t find what I knew would be perfect.

In particular, it was difficult to find the cuts, lengths and styles that suit curvy women.  Many of the styles were shapeless, and not the correct measurements to flatter and slim curvy women.

With Cazinc The Label styles, we want women to be able to showcase their élite features, and by using the power of illusion dressing, to hide any figure challenges.  We want women to look and feel fabulous, every day, in our designs.

All our designs are created to be suitable for many occasions, including career, casual and formal, so you will find dressing easier. You can dress the same piece of clothing up or down, depending on what other pieces from the collection or your existing wardrobe that you pair with it. Accessories and shoes you already own and love also play a massive part in changing the look of an outfit for different occasions.

Our first collection for AW19 is minimalist, a “capsule collection” designed to create a new wardrobe of new ideas to mix and match for many occasions.

“It's amazing what nice clothes can do for a woman's confidence and overall well-being!  We don't emphasise a woman's actual physical body dimensions, but more on how you can love your body for what it is and compliment it through clothing and style.”

Another reason I love the label has been the opportunity to educate style to women with the clothing items. Our team will also be performing make-overs on our YouTube channel of real women to continue teaching you on how to wear our collections, and you can create the wardrobe of your dreams.

What have been the most significant rewards for your hard work?

I always say that raising children is the most challenging career you can have, the most judged, but also the most rewarding. The same can be said for the label.

Thank you to everyone for all your support with the label. We are thrilled with how many have shopped with us, then come back for more. And then to receive beautiful comments, our team feel very blessed. One lady has sold off 90% of her wardrobe and purchased every item in our AW19 collection. She loves how many more clothes she feels she now has and is loving how she looks in everything. Her feedback to us is:

“I look like I have lost over 10 kg’s in your clothes Caz. My wardrobe has never been as small, but it feels like I have more. Your fabrics are beautiful and feel lovely to wear. Thank you so much.”

We hope this article inspires every woman to keep following her dreams.
