How To Live A Happy Life With A Winning Morning Routine
What does a winning morning routine have to do with how to live a happy life? Plenty!
The moment we awake our thoughts quickly set our attitude towards the day. If we wake up knowing we are prepared and have planned our day, our attitude will be cheerful and we are ready to get on with things; if we are worried over how will get everything done before we even get out of bed, let alone start on the things we have to accomplish, we will be stressed before our feet hit the floor.
Be clear on priorities. Plan the day before and think through the day to come. What can you do in the evening to save steps? Make lunches, have your outfit clean and ready, prepare kids’ school bags with homework inside? What will save time through the day? Are there things you can do in a logical order to save time and energy? Keep priorities first and secondary tasks second – wake up knowing your “road map” for your day.
Get the Best Sleep
Get your body in rhythm by going to sleep and waking up at the same times daily. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep for an enthusiastic start and enduring energy. Your bed should be as comfortable as possible with a relaxing atmosphere, but you also need to create a great environment to wake to, with sunlight, fresh air and a tidy room.
Turn Your Snooze Time into a Special Awakening Time
Don’t go back to sleep when you hit the snooze button but allow a spiritual moment before the ego awakes to connect with your soul. Be grateful, listen silently, pray or visualise and feel your ideal end result when achieving your goals for the day. You can set your intention, or a theme for the day, that supports your success.
We all know that drinking plenty of water is essential for our body to function well. In the morning, you have just spent one-third of the day without water. Every cell in your body from head to toe needs water for you to function at a peak performance – so when you are preparing breakfast, add a glass or two of water.
Sunlight, Fresh Air, and the Morning Sky
Allow the sunlight in to awaken you naturally if possible. Open the windows or step outside on lovely mornings for a rousing start to the day. A few minutes watching the beautiful changes of colours in the sky during sunrise is uplifting.
Kickstart Your Day
At the very minimum, music is energising. Exercise kick-starts your metabolism. Stretching and deep breathing stimulates the brain. Yoga combines stretching, breathing, and meditation. Whatever your propensity, choose one of these to get off to a great start.
Shower and Shine
Feeling clean, fresh, and looking your best to start the day increases your confidence whatever you have on for the day and will often increase the number and type of opportunities that come your way.
Fuel Up with a Healthy Breakfast
Your body slows while you sleep but a surprising amount of activity is still going on within your brain. Tissue growth and repair takes place. The immune system increases production of certain proteins. Hormones are released, and the list goes on, all running on stored energy. So, it makes sense to fuel your body with a nutritional breakfast for a peak performance day.
If you are looking for a deeper experience, incorporate a quiet block of 10-20 minutes for meditation, journaling, gratitude, prayer, spiritual reading, writing down your goals, etc.
Do what is going to make you happy long-term!
Want to lose weight, write a book, or stop procrastinating? Then exercise, write, and do.
Want to build a skill, develop expertise, overcome fear, or create more income in your business? Practice the skill, read or call and expert, take steps to face your fear, or take action that directly develops income.
Do it! We learn in action.
You may feel yourself resisting! Use will power to carry through and don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t always succeed. Growth is not easy. Feel great and allow your morning routines to energise you for the remainder of the day, knowing that your day will be more productive and enjoyable for the time you have taken to prepare, energise, and commune with your inner self.
A winning morning routine puts you in the best position for the rest of your day - and the rest of your life!
