Meet A Young Guy Who Is Running 250km For Cancer.

Meet A Young Guy Who Is Running 250km For Cancer.

Twelve months ago, I met gorgeous “blue-eyed” Damien at my favourite café in Essendon, St Rose. I discovered he is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside and he is super positive and confident. I am pleased to announce that Damien is going to bring his wealth of health, fitness and lifestyle knowledge to our blog, so we are all super excited to have him on our team.

Catching up with Damien over breakfast recently I found out there are many more layers to this 25-year-old incredible guy than meets the eye, and what I truly loved was the way Damien spoke about his mother, for whom he has the utmost respect and love. And Damien also loves his Nona - and he has promised her he will find and marry a nice girl! Gorgeous.

 Damien’s Football History

Damien played junior football at Craigieburn and Greenvale until the age of 18. Then he went on to play in the TAC Cup for Calder Cannons, winning the best and fairest in 2011.

He was nominated to attend State Screening and enter the AFL draft for that year. After being unsuccessful, he signed up for the 2012 season with Williamstown Seagulls in the VFL, which he played for the next five years. During his time at Williamstown, he suffered some severe injuries which led him to the decision to leave the VFL and go back to his junior club, Craigieburn, where he played the 2017 and 2018 seasons. But after two shoulder reconstructions and two ACL knee reconstructions, he decided to retire from football and pursue of other ambitions.

Damien now has a podcast “Relentless” where he dissects the behaviours, critical thinking and values of relentless leaders. He works with Richmond's Alex Rance on a program for children and is also super fit and organising a 250km run over six days in twelve months time to raise money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in honour of his father, who died on January 25th, 2017.

Rather than feeling sorry for himself over losing his father, Damien is pumped to do something positive to respect and remember him.

Damien is running from Craigieburn to Yarrawonga. This was a holiday destination for his family for over 15 years and now they travel there for a week on the 5th March each year to celebrate his dad's birthday and life.

There will be a support vehicle following Damien with a masseur, videographer and family member, with nightly stops at certain towns along the way.

It is going to take twelve months for him to build up to the run, mentally and physically and we are thrilled that Damien is going to give us regular updates on his preparation so we can go on the journey with him and also implement some of the strategies and exercises into our own lives.

Damien is available for Mentoring and Coaching. Previously working with elite sporting organisations as a mentor, he also has vast amounts of experience as an elite athlete and focuses on the pressures of pursuing this as a career. He is expanding this knowledge to all walks of life and industries.

Damien is also available for Guest Speaking, where he shares his life story and strategies for achieving ultimate fulfilment.
