What Is The Podcast Everyone Is Listening To?
Last week while working with me, my daughter Emma was listening to a podcast which she told me I had to tune in as "everyone" was hooked on it. This includes me now!
The Teacher’s Pet is the podcast about the disappearance of Lyn Dawson in the early 80s. The case intrigued a journalist from The Australian, Hedley Thomas, after he heard about the case 17 years ago when he worked for the Courier Mail in Brisbane.
“It always struck me as such a terrible travesty of justice, and really cruel to Lyn's family, that it hadn’t been resolved.” - Hedley Thomas
Even though it is a dark story, unsolved for 36 years, it is one that will hook you in from the first few lines. The podcast is like a great book that you can't put down, just one more chapter, only five more minutes. The story goes back to the days after Lyn went missing, when her husband and teacher Chris Dawson replaced his wife with one of his year 11 students.
Hedley couldn't stop thinking about the case, so he re-opened the files he wrote in 2001 to try to make a difference by reinvestigating the case and finding new evidence.
It‘s a story about two very close twin brothers, Lyn's husband Chris and his twin brother Paul, and Chris's teenage lover. According to The Sun, even though Lyn’s body has never been found, two separate coroners in Sydney, Australia, have concluded that Chris killed his wife but the director of public prosecutions in New South Wales twice ruled there was insufficient evidence to charge Chris with murder.
I hope you enjoyed what you have read so far, but be warned, you will be hooked.
