Our Top 10 Anti-Ageing Steps

If you are looking for some natural ways to slow down the ageing process, then read our teams top ten steps, and enjoy a more youthful you.  

1.    Reduce Your Stress Levels

Stress can be the number one cause of ageing.  Ways to reduce stress are relaxing, switching off with meditation, yoga, or my favourite, Pilates.  Book a relaxing massage, soak in a bathtub full of your preferred scents, go for a walk, do whatever it takes for you to unwind.

2.    Give Up Smoking

Nothing ages you faster than smoking.  I know it can reduce stress, but it causes cancer and a huge hole in your pay packet. 

3.    Exercise

While exercising, your body releases serotonin, which makes you feel great.  Your body will also tone up to help you look and feel younger. Also, when you exercise you drink more water, which hydrates your body to give you a younger glow.

4.    Regulate Your Diet

Aim for fifteen servings of plant foods per day to boost your intake of omega-3 essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which are anti-ageing.  This can include fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds and wholegrains, which include wild rice, quinoa and spelt.

5.    Alcohol In Moderation

Red wine in winter and champagne in summer equals bliss.  Red wine does contain the healthy antioxidants to help your body to fight ageing free radicals, and the great news is that it contains a compound to stimulate lean cells and help shed fat.  But we know the rule of thumb - everything in moderation.

6.    Adopt A Skin Care Routine

Book an appointment with your skin doctor to ensure the products you are using are beneficial to your skin.  Our skin changes overtime and so should our skin care routine.

7.    Smile and Laugh

Smiling makes you feel good. When you smile, your whole body smiles and helps build your confidence.

Face ache is a great workout! Laughter is great for your skin as it tones your muscles, boosts circulation, and gives you a healthy glow.

8.    Build A New Style

Are you in a style rut? How long has it been since you gave your wardrobe an overhaul, or changed your makeup, hairstyle and colour?

9.    Fall In Love With Nature

Take a drive out to the country for a day or weekend to go for a hike in the mountains or hire a bike to fill your lungs up with some fresh air.

10.  Sleep

We know the 8-hour rule, but to keep the bags under the eyes at bay a good sleep routine also helps. At least once a week or fortnight try to sleep until you naturally wake up without an alarm.
