3 Quick & Easy Tweaks For Glowing Skin
As we age, our skin tends to lose its natural radiance, so it needs a little help getting the “glow” back! I don't know about you, but since I hit fifty, I have noticed that my skin requires more attention than my usual beauty routine.
Today I want to share with you a few extra tips to keep your skin looking radiant every day, to achieve the gorgeous, ageless skin you deserve, with minimal effort required!
Sip Your Way to Gorgeous Skin
It’s no secret — drinking plenty of water is essential to getting that “light up from within” glow.
But even though we all know this, it turns out that most of us aren’t drinking enough water on a daily basis, especially over winter. The heated indoor air is warm, but also less humid and this drier, warm air causes skin moisture to evaporate.
Not drinking enough water results in skin that looks dry, flaky, and dull.
To combat this I’ve come up with an easy way to “sneak” water into your day — even by adding it to your makeup routine! The next time you apply your makeup, take a glass of water into the bathroom with you and sip while you apply. Carry a water bottle with you during the day and remember to have a full glass of water before you commence your exercise routine, not just at the end. Put a jug of water on the table at meal times. It is often unappealing to drink cold water in winter when it's cold outside, so try a glass of warm water or switch a coffee for herbal tea.
Repeat these steps every day to stay hydrated and keep your complexion looking smooth, youthful, and radiant.
Switch The Shower To The Sink.
Here’s something you can try the next time you shower.
Do your regular shower routine, but don’t wash your face. In fact, try to keep your face as dry as possible.
Then, after your shower, wash your face at the bathroom sink using warm (not hot) water with your facial cleanser.
Here’s why it works. Washing your face in the shower exposes your skin to hot water which can strip it of oils it needs to retain its natural glow. Washing your face at the basin in cooler water helps keep the moisture in your skin. As a bonus, the steam from your shower will assist to open up your pores, allowing your skin extra preparation to soak in your favourite serums and moisturisers.
Give Your Skin a Snack
I have to say I’m obsessed with my green cleanse smoothie. I either purchase from my favourite café, St Rose, or make this one. They don’t just taste delicious, but also has some significant benefits, feeding your skin from the inside!
The secret? Omega-3 fatty acids — the “super nutrients” responsible for keeping your skin smooth, supple, and healthy.
My “Inner Glow” Smoothie
1 large orange, peeled and sliced
1 cup spinach
½ cup apple, chopped
1 cup coconut water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 small piece of ginger
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Go ahead and give these easy skincare tips a go and let me know if it helps.
