What Do Women Do Before 9AM To Make Them Successful?

Do you tell yourself you are not a morning person and love sleeping until the last possible moment, often hitting the snooze button many times? 

It's interesting chatting to others at my 6am Pilates class.  We have all had every excuse in our minds as to why we shouldn't be there and should have stayed in bed, but by 7am, when the class is over, we are happy we made the effort.

Most successful women I have worked with have credited their success to having a set morning routine that they rigidly stick too to ensure they don't start the day behind the eight ball. An early rise sets a great mindset for their entire day.  So, what are their secrets?

1.  Don't Hit Snooze

Who invented the snooze button anyway????  Successful women I know have trained themselves to get up straight away when the alarm goes off, rather than hitting the snooze button ten times before realising you are now running late.



2.  Gratitude And Positive Thinking

Rather than moaning and groaning that you have to get out of bed to work for the day, power your mind with gratitude and positive thinking.  As your feet hit the ground, say "thank you" and start to think of what you have to be grateful for in life.  Your health, family, career and relationships.  

3. Exercise

If you can't make a Pilates or gym class, make time to get the blood pumping with a quick walk, light yoga exercises or stretches.  Exercise is a great mood booster and helps to reduce stress, so a great way to start the day.

3. Hydrate and Fuel

Aim to fuel your body by making time to eat something healthy in the morning, even if you are having a piece of fruit or smoothie on the run.  Also, your body will be dehydrated after eight hours of sleep and no water intake.  So, you guessed it, drink water.  This can be difficult in winter, but try drinking warm water or herbal teas.  

By adding the above to your morning routine will awaken your brain and body and prepare you for whatever the day brings.

4. To Do List

Do you ever walk into a room and forget what you have stepped in there for, but you can remember all the words to a song you haven't heard for twenty years?

The secret to decluttering your mind of “cloud” so you can focus on the job at hand is to write a list.  Read Brian Tracy's book "Eat That Frog" to learn how to deal with the difficult tasks on the list first, something most successful women accomplish daily.

5. Stay In Touch With The World

This doesn't mean you have to read the whole newspaper or watch the news for hours.  Do a quick check in to read the news headlines or listen to a quick report on the radio to stay informed on important issues.

Putting the above into practice will ensure you stay focused, happy and healthy during the day, and always be in front of the eight ball.  It might be tough to begin, but like everything you start, with practice it becomes easier.



But then at the end of the day, remember to take time out for you.
