5 Royal-Themed Books You Will Love
In 1956 we watched an American actress wed the Prince of Monaco, in 2004, we watched an Australian girl marry a Danish prince, which sounds like the stuff of fairy tales, but this weekend we are witnessing another American actress marry an English prince.
Royal wedding fever is at an all-time high with the upcoming wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday 19th May 2018, which has made us yearn for more about the Royals.
The team here at Cazinc are super excited for Saturday and can’t get enough of the royals. So, we have put our heads together to bring you our favorite royal-themed books we think you will love too.
1. The Crown: The Official Companion, Volume 1
By Robert Lacey
If you're interested at all in the royals, you've probably watched The Crown. The hit Netflix show looks like the inner working of Queen Elizabeth's life, starting not long before her coronation. The Crown: The Official Companion, Volume 1 gives viewers of the show the real story behind their favorite plotlines. In addition to learning the truth behind the acting, readers gain additional insight into the real lives of their beloved on-screen characters.
2. The Wicked Wit of Queen Elizabeth II
By Karen Dolby
Prince Harry is known for his funny sense of humour, but his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II also has a healthy sense of humour: sometimes silly, sarcastic, and occasionally unintentional, like when she said to guitar legend Eric Clapton, "Have you been playing long?"
Witness another side to the solemn and dignified Queen we see with her majestic hat, pearls and matching handbag and gloves. The book is a delightful celebration of the Queen's humor, allows you to read some of the Queen's quotes and other royals get in their two cents, including the famously filterless Prince Philip and the acerbic Princess Margaret, as well as Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
3. Diana's Boys: William and Harry and the Mother They Loved
by Christopher Andersen
Four years after Diana's death, Prince William and his brother Prince Harry are the planet's two most-photographed, written about, and speculated-about young men. Christopher Andersen draws on important sources -- many of whom have agreed to speak for the first time -- to paint this sympathetic yet often startling portrait of William and Harry, and reveal how their mother remains a constant presence in their lives. "Diana's Boys" is more than the first comprehensive biography of the world's two most celebrated royals. This is the story of a mother who died too young and the children who are her living legacy. A book that broke my heart.
4. Prince Harry, The Inside Story
by Duncan Larcombe
Prince Henry of Wales has emerged as the unexpected jewel in the crown of the modern British monarchy. Despite his unruly antics, for which he’s made headlines all over the world, Harry has won the nation’s admiration and respect through his commitment to helping injured servicemen and women with the Invictus Games and his spearheading of mental health issues.
With updated chapters on Harry’s flourishing relationship with American actress Meghan Markle, Duncan Larcombe’s insightful and highly entertaining biography is the inside story of how a young prince has grown and matured into a respected soldier, charitable fundraiser and national figurehead who still retains his reputation as a heart-throb and lovable rogue.
5. William And Kate: A Royal Love Story
By Christopher Anderson
"I put it to William, particularly, that if you find someone you love in life, you must hang on to that love and look after it. . . . You must protect it." —Diana, Princess of Wales
And that is exactly what William has done with his marriage to beautiful Kate and now celebrating the birth of their third child.
From the beginning, the marriage of William and Kate was destined to be one of the most celebrated unions of the twenty-first century: he, the charismatic prince who would someday be crowned king of England; she, the stunningly beautiful commoner who won his heart. Prince William and Kate Middleton defied all odds to forge a storybook romance amid the scandals, power struggles, tragedies, and general dysfunction that are the hallmarks of Britain’s Royal Family. In the process, they became the most written about, gossiped about, admired, and envied young couple of their generation.
We might not be invited to the wedding, but I hope these books put you in the mood to enjoy the celebrations.
