Who Is Sick Of Politicians Who Care More About Headlines Than People?
Sex And The City fans loved the strength and passion in the character Miranda Hobbes in the series. Miranda stood up for women everywhere during the 1980’s as a career-minded lawyer with cynical views on relationships and men in a male-dominant world.
Fans also loved Miranda’s kindness, especially how much she adored her cat and overcame all her insecurities to change from a businesswoman to motherhood to love her child.
Now in real life, Cynthia Nixon is making a difference to her beloved state, New York, by announcing she will run for governor, challenging incumbent Andrew Cuomo for the Democratic nomination.
"I love New York, and today I'm announcing my candidacy for governor," Nixon, 51, said on Twitter.
"We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us."
Cynthia's primary purpose running for Governor is to look after the kids of New York City and to provide them with the chances she had growing up there.
“New York is my home,” Nixon says in the spot. “I’ve never lived anywhere else. When I grew up here, it was just my mom and me in a one-bedroom fifth-floor walk-up. New York is where I was raised and where I’m raising my kids. I’m a proud public school graduate and a prouder public school parent. I was given chances I just don’t see for most of New York’s kids today.”
"Taking our country back is going to require all of us to step up and take action, including more women, people of colour, Queer people, and first-generation Americans running for office."
Cynthia is not sitting back and complaining. Like her character Miranda, Cynthia is working to make a difference to her home and for the people.
Now that's girl power.
