The "Black Friday & Cyber Monday" Sales Frenzy In Australia

The "Black Friday & Cyber Monday" Sales Frenzy In Australia

Together the United States Black Friday and Cyber Monday create one of the biggest shopping weeks in the world. But what initially began in America is now known worldwide and Australians are fast catching up on what it means to snap up Black Friday and Cyber Monday bargains online. Almost everything in the US seems to go on sale!

In America, Black Friday is Friday November 23rd, and Cyber Monday falls on Monday November 26th, both following Thanksgiving. In Australia, allow for the time difference when looking for the online sales to begin (Saturday 24th and Tuesday 27th), but note that many stores start offering discounts before these dates. It is a day when shoppers can take advantage of “huge” discounts from various retailers, taking loads of $$$ off designer and high-street clothing. Perfect for the Christmas party season, to buy gifts or to update your wardrobe.

It has been suggested it is called Black Friday because of the profits, when many stores go from being in the red to the black. But there is also a suggestion that the term was coined in Philadelphia in the 1960’s because it was a ‘black’ day for police with traffic management and crowded shopping streets when the sales started.

Many local Australian retailers are starting to have their own Black Friday sales. So many things can be purchased at a discount over this shopping long weekend extravaganza, from white goods and power tools to beauty products, clothing and accessories. Get your Christmas gifts on sale and the bonus is you can use your savings to purchase the designer shoes you love (on sale of course).

Here are some of the fabulous sales we have compiled for you, so credit cards to the ready and let your fingers do the purchasing. And some of the designer deals are too good to be true.

Happy sales! No wonder Australia has fallen in love with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale.
