How To Be A Mum And Fashionable
How many of you struggle with "I'm a busy Mum but I still want to be fashionable"? I would like to assure you that it is achievable (without spending a lot of time and money).
A question I am often asked is, "how can you be a mum of four children Caz and look like you don't have any?" Like everyone else, I have days where I don't want to think too hard about what to wear and just throw on jeans and a tee, and if I am adventurous (or it's cold), a jumper!! But it is the jeans, tee and jumper that I choose that make this work. The first secret is purchasing the right clothes. The second is not to have too many clothes so that you are not overwhelmed by choices when you open your drawers and don't know what to wear.
A lot of my clients who are mums say to me they don't want to stand out, they want to blend in by wearing tracksuits, etc. What many really mean is that it seems too hard some days to think about being stylish and they don't know where to start. It's not that they don't want to be stylish; a tracksuit is just easier to throw on.
But being a mum doesn't mean we have to give up our rights to be stylish, beautiful and healthy. Being a mum doesn't mean our lives have to stop. It means we are still women, with the same needs and wants, just busier! There is absolutely NOTHING WRONG and everything right with wanting to be a stylish mum!
Many women phoned me for my styling services after having children. Not only had their lives changed, but often their body shape had also changed. They wanted a styling session because they felt lost, wearing the same boring clothes every day because "who cares anyway" and many had given up on thinking about style because they felt they didn't have anywhere to go that they needed to look amazing.
What I did find was that after the styling sessions, not only their wardrobes changed, but so did they. These women started to shine in all aspects of their lives! They had gorgeous casual clothes to wear during the week rather than the boring "uniform" of sportswear. Their confidence grew, which often led them to them fitting more time in for themselves or even starting a new career. But most importantly, what I found was their relationships with their partners became more intimate and passionate. They wanted to go on date nights because they felt so good about themselves. Their partners wanted to spend more time with them. And often the partners asked for styling and grooming sessions too so they could keep up with the love of their lives.
So is it worth being a fashionable mum and is it possible? ABSOLUTELY!
