How You Can Support Women's Mental Health This Month?

How You Can Support Women's Mental Health This Month?

Around 1 in 6 women in Australia will experience depression and 1 in 3 women will experience anxiety during their lifetime. ‘Liptember’ is a campaign entirely dedicated to educating the community about women’s mental health.

At present, the majority of mental health research has focussed on the mental health of men.  It is interesting that the findings from this study relate to both males and females, but due to the research predominately centered on men, the prevention strategies devised thus far have not been able to assist the mental health needs of the female population entirely.

Women take on roles as mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and partners and experience a myriad of responsibilities and stresses in those roles. The priority of the Liptember campaign is to improve the health of all Australian women in the hope of an improvement of the overall health and well-being of the whole community.

A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.”
– Diane Mariechild.

The funds raised during September are donated to organizations that assist in the mental health of women such as the Centre of Women’s Mental Health, Lifeline, Batyr, RUOK?, The Jean Hailes Foundation and The Pretty Foundation.

Since the foundation's inception in 2010, the organization has helped to fund thousands of crisis chats.  Th includes assistance with the launch of the Newborn Behavioural Observation program to help support the connection between mothers and their children and develop the Safe Mothers, Safe Babies program.

With the aid of incredible ambassadors like Olympic gold medallist Lydia Lassila, Australian radio and TV personality Chrissie Swan and Media personality Molly Meldrum the foundation has achieved enormous success, but they also need our help!

This month our incredible team at Cazinc will be jumping on board the campaign! All you have to do to get involved is purchase a Liptember lipstick from any Chemist Warehouse, My Chemist or My Beauty Spot store and ROCK it all September long!  These lipsticks are only $5.00 and what we love is they are not tested on animals.

You don't have to wear your lipstick everyday during September, but the colours are so cool your challenge will be to not wear them.

When you have purchased your lipstick, then head over to Liptember to register!

While it is always fun to be the daring one in your friends and family that wears the awesome lipstick; it is fun when you rock it out with others! Please encourage your friends and relatives to become involved by posting pictures of yourself on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #liptember so everyone can see what an incredible cause you are supporting!

We can’t wait to see you all looking GORGEOUS wearing your Liptember lipsticks (don’t forget to tag @cazincblog) this month to help all the incredible women in our lives!
