Your Ultimate Guide To Shopping Melbourne

Your Ultimate Guide To Shopping Melbourne

If you are new to Melbourne, welcome, if you are not, you will still love this guide, as we enjoyed putting it together for you.

With all the laneways, cafés and restaurants, no wonder Melbourne is still voted the number one city in the world to live.  And then there is the shopping!  Not only in the precinct CBD, but the surrounds, we are incredibly spoilt for choice.

Shopping can become a little daunting for many, especially if you don’t know where to start.  We have put together a guide of places we love so that you can enjoy exploring, or a fun day out with the girls, and we recommend a visit one of the many bars at the end of the day, with champagne or cosmopolitans to celebrate.

A standout amongst the most common shopping tours in the city is the "Bargains and Bubbles" tour, which is a fantastic day excursion to the best outlet shops and incorporates lunch, a glass of bubbles while taking the bother of carrying your buys around throughout the day ceaselessly.

Purchase Fashionista's Guide to Shopping in Melbourne only for $19.95, composed by Melbourne fashionistas Emily Power and Antonia Alcott. Although originally published in 2013, this diamond will ensure you are aware of everything with regards to shopping in Melbourne.

Melbourne CBD

The Paris end of Collins Street is my favourite place, with the gorgeous shops to peruse, or shop if your budget stretches that far!  The architecture is magnificent, and it is important to find time to stop at Bistrot d'Orsay for a latte, or Hopetoun Tea Rooms at the Block arcade.

Little Collins Street and Flinders Lane are filled with charming boutiques that are worth a look, especially when you are looking for some wardrobe sensations.

On the other hand, we adore the arcades and minimal side rear ways in Melbourne city. With bunches of little boutiques and cafes to find.

Bourke Street Mall is the best place to shop as stores are adjusted on each line of the road in the heart of Melbourne's City, ideal for an early breakfast at Laurent and profuse shopping binge.

Fitzroy: Brunswick Street and Smith Street

If you love to shop vintage, then Fitzroy is the place for you.  There are many specialist vintage stores to explore, plus the artistic flair to the streets and people watching is a must as the street wear fashion is fabulous.

South Yarra: Toorak Road and Chapel Street

Always worth a visit, whether it is the vibrant culture, the amazing architecture or the countless number of clothing and boutique stores, you will enjoy a great shopping day out.

South Melbourne: Clarendon Street, Market

On a sunny day, South Melbourne is the place to be, with the beachy atmosphere.  Claredon Street has many speciality shops and when you have finished, head on over to the famous South Melbourne market and try one of the infamous dim sims or if you need a health fix, visit Lola Berry's "Happy Place."

Chadstone Shopping Center

Chadstone is the ultimate shopping experience, an entirely one-stop shop and is Melbourne’s fashion capital.  Be prepared to lose a day, so when the weather is awful, this is the place to hang out.

DFO South Wharf at Docklands:

Full of grand bargains, this DFO is the place to go when shopping for wardrobe staples.  We suggest breakfast at the Hilton before you hit the stores.

South Bank

We recommend making a beeline for Cabochon for incredible and sensibly estimated ensemble gems.

Richmond: Bridge Road

Bridge road is known for outlet shopping and bistro jumping.

Malvern: High Street

For any fashionista, High Street Malvern is for you with fashioner boutique and shopping. Magnificent brand names can be discovered at poofteenth of the cost of the store.
