3 Brilliant Winter Red Wines For Under $20.00
Winter is well and truly here. Already we have witnessed strong winds, rain and hail. Just awaiting the snow! Nothing warms you up more on the inside on a cold winters day than hot soup, casseroles or a rich blue vein cheese with a great red wine.
Our gorgeous wine guru Hunter has given us three reds you will love for winter.
1. 2013 Chris Rhineland's CR Shiraz
Here is one of the best winter warming Shiraz wines bar none: Chris Rhineland's CR Shiraz from the Barossa Valley, with a 4.5 star rating.
A truly perfect partner for all rich, slow cooked winter soups and casseroles.
Dark, almost ebony in colour. A super compote of rich ripe berry aromas leads the assault on your senses, followed by one of the most beautifully balanced complex cacophonies of flavours you may ever savour. Perfect fruit, super smooth tannins and amazing length.
$24.99 per bottle,
but if you have a 'My Dan Murphy's Card', only $17.00 for the month of June; a fantastic offer.
2. 2015 Cat Among The Pigeons Cabernet Sauvignon
A stunning rich Cabernet Sauvignon, with a 4 star rating, Cat Among The Pigeons from the Barossa Valley is made with ripe fruit and has amazing depth of flavour and balance.
Super fine tannins give it backbone without being overpowering.
At only $14.99 each, or $14.25 in any six, it will not break the bank.
3. 2015 The Black Chook Shiraz
The Black Chook is wonderfully rich fruit driven Shiraz from Padthaway and Mclaren Vale regions of south Australia.
Concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry and blackcurrent fruit float from your glass . Followed by a satin like compote of dark berry fruits on the palate , soft tannins provide the foil.
For $16.99 this is punches well above its wait.
There is also a big brother in the Black Chook sparkling Shiraz to try.
Perfect winter drinking.
