How To Add More Greens To Your Diet
Easter is always a wonderful time of year, a time we love, like Christmas. It is always fun, until the party is over, and it is time to go back to “real life”.
Did you overindulge over Easter like we did? At our meeting this morning, we all discussed how we had a wonderful Easter, but how our bodies are feeling bloated, sluggish and lacking energy coming down after a sugar high. It is worse than a hang over, especially when our bodies are not used to sugar.
This morning, I personally felt ill at spin class and thought at one stage I was going to pass out. It is a full day of greens and water for me today, a post Easter cleanse to get back on track.
Green foods are excellent for assisting with hydration, and to give your body a much-needed boost of antioxidants and vitamin E as a bonus.
They are a quick fix, to assist you getting back on track after a sugar hit, as they hold back enzymes in your body to naturally raise your blood sugar levels, which assists with preventing cravings from processed high-sugar and high-fat foods.
Green foods assist with weight loss, as they are packed with nutrients, such as selenium, which raises your metabolism, and boosts your immune system. They are also an essential part of anti-ageing, and assist water to fight wrinkles.
When thinking of green foods, try to eat raw as often as possible, or slightly cooked. When overcooked, the sulphur they contain is released.
