How To Age Gracefully
In July, I will be celebrating my 50th birthday. How did this happen? I still feel 20, well better than 20, fitter and healthier than what I was at 20, but I am old enough to join the over 50 classes at the gym.
When I think of stylish women, Helen Mirren, and Dame Judith Dench come to mind. They are extremely talented, and incredibly stylish, inside and out. They understand the 3 crucial elements of style. They haven’t brutalised themselves with surgery. They all exercise and lead a balanced life. They are a class act, own it, love it, and ageing gracefully. They are on point, from head to toe, and carry themselves with confidence.
Here are reminders of how you too can age gracefully, providing you with a youth-boosting confidence without surgery.
Holding a good posture can do more to keep you looking youthful than Botox. Take time out to continually correct your posture, especially when sitting for long periods of time.
Yoga and Pilates (we have articles coming for the benefits of Pilates, stay tuned), are wonderful forms of back care and will improve your posture, so you can carry yourself with confidence.
2. Remove Stress
Stress doesn’t only add grey hairs, it can age us instantly by up to 10 years. It has been proven to lead to unhealthy causes, including cancer. Most stress comes from worry. Read our article “How To Cease Being A Chronic Worrier”
3. Stay Hydrated
Water is the crucial element to looking and feeling fabulous. Are you being honest with yourself when you think about how much water you drink? Hydrated skin is healthy, youthful skin.
Exfoliating the dead, outer layer of skin allows new skin to come alive. Body and face exfoliation are fabulous, creating instantly youthful skin.
5. Eat anti-oxidant, youth enhancing, nutritious food.
Not only will your body love you for it, your skin will love you for it. You will have a skip in your step, more energy, and not be dragged down by bulky, heavy foods that sit in your stomach. Plant based foods, such as spinach, kale, berries, seeds and nuts. See our smoothie recipes.
6. Great skincare routine and regular facials
A daily skincare routine is always great for your skin, but without hydrating your skin, and eating anti-oxidant foods, your moisturiser won’t work. They go hand in hand.
Try to back your daily skin care with a weekly mask and a monthly facial.
