French Style - How To Develop Your Own Personal Style

French Style - How To Develop Your Own Personal Style

French women know how to dress and possess their own impeccable personal style, which is a statement, showing effortless confidence and creativity.  They might update their wardrobe every year with a few trends, but they mainly keep to a similar aesthetic with their wardrobe capsules.

Most women want to turn heads when walking down the street, walking into a room, or have friend’s remark on their astonishing style.  To feel confident, strong and upbeat every day?  And the best part is you don’t have to spend a million dollars to feel like a million dollars.  The secret is having the knowledge of how to perfect your own unique style and feeling great in what you are wearing.

If your clothes fit you beautifully, and flatter you, they create a visual balance and show off your feminine shape, you will always look fabulous, no matter what size you are.

If a woman is poorly dressed, you notice the clothes.  If she is impeccably dressed, you notice the woman

Like our own personality, we all have our own personal style of dressing.  Our personality and our own individual style of dressing are usually entwined.

Fabulous style does not necessarily involve spending a great deal of money on clothes.  Once you are educated on your personal style and colour, you will have the knowledge to not waste a cent.  A limited budget will also force you to be disciplined and think more carefully about the purchases you make.  Rather than spending all your money on “fashion fads”, only purchase a few accessories on the “fads” and invest on style pieces.

When breaking down the wardrobes of French women, the style rules they live by begin to emerge.  Is it time you forgo the expensive trendy top, which will be in the recycle pile next year, in exchange for a Little Black Dress you will wear for years?  Our article on Coco Chanel, we found out when Coco died at  in 87, they found only three complete outfits in the closet of her Paris apartment, proof you can be the world's most stylish woman, with minimal items in your wardrobe.

Invest in a few luxurious, classic items, knowing that over the years, the "cost per wear" will be minimal, and ultimately become a valuable item of your wardrobe.

Your own personal style is all about the way you wear your clothes and the condition of the clothes.  Style is not just about whether you drape a scarf around your neck, style is everything about the clothes you put on, your posture, and your inner thoughts.  Insignificant details become finishing touch that will make all the difference between a prominent and an average impression.  At first it may seem all too hard, but believe me, it becomes effortless in time

You may see a style that you think is very you, but that doesn’t mean this style is suited to you. It is important to evaluate the situation, then you can put your style together by assessing you, by asking yourself some important questions, about the items you are wearing.

How does it make you feel?
Does your image give you confidence?
Are you pulling and tugging at your clothes to try and make them feel great?
Does what you see make you feel happy?
Do you really think these clothes suit you?

Some days you can wear an item and feel totally confident and beautiful, and other days it won't give you the same feeling, so it is important to take it off and wear something else.

Once you have assessed your image and are happy, go out there and wear it, own it, and be it, knock everyone's socks off.  Smile and enjoy the reactions.

This is the start of your journey.  Read our article on "How To Think Fabulous" for your next step.  We are on a journey together, so are you ready to ride the wave to looking and feeling fabulous everyday?  Once you have the knowledge, it becomes fun.  As I have seen time and time again with many clients, life does change when you have style knowledge.

So please keep asking yourself these 5 important questions each day, keep reading our style articles, and enjoy your new knowledge and confidence, like the French women.

Yours in style,

Carolyn Rowland
