What Is The Secret Of Casey Donavan's 36 Kilo Weight Loss?
In 2004, Casey Donavan won the hearts of Australians by winning the second season of Australian Idol. She was only 16 years of age and the series’ youngest ever winner and won over crowd favourite, (and one of Caz's fav's), Anthony Callea.
We loved Casey. She was the talented girl with "the voice," a fantastic singer, songwriter, theatre actress and author. Casey stood up for all girls who struggled with weight loss.
But this year, something changed in Casey when she won “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here,” which kicked off her weight loss regime by losing 17 kilo’s while on the show.
While on the show, it was easy for Casey to lose the weight, because junk food wasn’t readily available for her. But unfortunately, when Casey returned home, according to Women’s Day, 7 kilos came straight back on due to binge eating McDonald's and drinking coke.
What Casey had to realise is similar to many of my clients who I coached for weight loss. Their obesity wasn’t going to stop until they reached a threshold where they couldn’t take it anymore. What was interesting to me was they were in feeble health, which was deteriorating daily, but this wasn’t the key to them to stop poor eating choices.
“I don’t ever want to go back to that girl in the white singlet”.
It wasn’t until Casey changed her mindset that made her lose 23kg’s in 15 weeks. What the coaching did for Casey and my clients is for them to learn they are valued and loved. They needed to become confident in their skin, right now, and allow the confidence to grow in their new skin, styles and shapes. They learn a whole new look at life. Casey received this support through @wlcw.aust.
So the diet secret Casey went on was the same as our "carrot" guy, Michael.
Casey now enjoys eating clean food, switching from fast food meals and carbs for a high protein and plant-based diet.
Casey walks, (not running, but walking) 15,000 steps per day, which includes 5,000 steps before breakfast and often walking at night to reach her step goals.
“I would like to continue, you know, eating clean and not going back to old habits. “Although I am happy and confident in my skin now, I would like to feel how it is to be happy and confident in a new skin and with a new look on life.”
“It’s a long road, and I am going to give it all I got!!”
So again we can see there is no magic “diet” other than eating clean, healthy foods, drinking plenty of water and SELF-LOVE!
They go hand in hand together. Have you had days where you don’t like who you are? The first thing you do is reach for the junk food to make yourself feel better. Whereas the days you feel good about yourself, you reach for the clean food to look after the body you love.
So that is the secret to Casey’s diet. Self-Love. When you find it, you will never look back. Learn to love who you are, in your skin, today and the kilos will fall off.
Please share your stories of how you have looked after your body and ate healthy food when you felt more self-love. Your story will inspire others. Let's keep the love flowing.
