What Is The True Meaning Of Christmas?
As you know, my friend Michael Gallus dedicates timeless hours to his volunteer children’s sporting foundation, Footys4All, where they don't only just provide sports equipment to those in need , they most importantly distribute hope. Michael is not only a community girls football coach, Uber driver and family man, he is the best networker I have ever met.
Today Michael invited my youngest son James and I to come and visit the Sunshine Special Development School’s Footys4all Christmas distribution, where thanks to Acting Principal Nicole Edwards and PE teacher Robyn Goulding’s vision and hard work we assisted in giving out brand new Footys4all Steeden basketballs, Footys4all Gilbert Netballs and Footys4all Rugby Union Balls and Ross Faulkner Footys4all Footballs balls of choice to each and every one of the enrolled 170 students, thanks to a very generous donation by the Sharon Lee led Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisors Charity foundation.
Whilst Jack Lyall-the next Justin Beiber from Aussie Youth serenaded us all with Christmas Carols we began Handing the balls to the children, I shook their hands and said "Merry Christmas." These brilliant kids, no matter how hard it was, managed to say Merry Christmas back to me. Seeing the smiles on their faces and their excitement to receive their Footys4all balls made my Christmas. It was the best Christmas present I could have asked for and I am incredibly grateful to Michael to invite us to volunteer.
A highlight for the kids was to have AFLW Western Bulldogs player, the gorgeous Nicole Callinan (#10) attend. The excitement levels went through the roof when she spent time kicking and hand balling with everyone. Now this is the mark of a true champion! You are a star Nicole. All your time much appreciated
It takes special people to work with these children and the people we met today were among the kindest, and most beautiful teachers, Smartline Employees and Footys4all special guests and volunteers James and I have ever met. This Included the gorgeous and inspiring PE teacher, Robyn, who organised the days assembly and ball distribution as well as blowing up every ball and writing each students names on the 170 balls.
Another highlight for us was playing with the kids and their balls. They loved the interaction with us, and of course, we loved it even more!
James and I drove home discussing how much we enjoyed the morning and how blessed we felt to be involved in the true spirit of Christmas.
What does the true spirit of Christmas mean to you?
We hope you enjoy your Christmas as much as we enjoyed ours today.
