How One Woman Helps Many By Pinching Shampoo?
I first met gorgeous Kate when she was part of the eating carrots movement for our healthy eating article. Michael told me about Kate, and one phone call later, gorgeous Kate provided me with a look into what Pinchapoo is about. A fun, but serious organisation, which I am sure you will love to be a part of.
Here is Kate's story.
What would a day be without a good poo pun?
They never get old. “Hey, I’ve just pooed by your door.” For me, the giggles never wear thin, and neither does the shock on on-lookers faces! Why, because poo is my life, Pinchapoo or as I like to refer to it, my third and fattest child!
So I guess I should explain.
Pinchapoo is short for Pinch-a-shampoo- see what we did there? Our cheeky modern day Robin Hood movement was born eight years ago and encourages you to take the hotel toiletries included in the cost of accommodation to allow us to provide access to personal hygiene products for disadvantaged men, women, and children across Australia. Don’t be shocked, you know you do it anyway, but now you have a reason!
1.3 million products redistributed is something you can now be proud to be part of our movement!
That’s the fluffy part, the braggy bit but let’s hit you with some of what we like to call bubble bursters.
Did you know that hospitals have no budget for providing something as small as soap to patients?
Did you know that 1 in 6 Australian families are forced to choose between food and essential hygiene items every week?
Did you know that over 60% of the homeless people are male?
Did you know your bubble burst?
So why choose this path? This path picked me. Following years of family violence as a child, I left home at the age of 16. I went with my toothbrush which seemed like all you needed to tackle the world at the time (still baffles me), but it wasn’t long before I realized I needed more. Without the products I took for granted in my bathroom every morning- I lost who I was, entirely. Every day I ponder the concept of destiny. Was this the enabler for the path I'm now on?
Our concept is fun; our mission is necessary, the message is simple.
The more you pinch, the more we help with our customised packs to over 120 organisations nationally.
