What's So Hot About Shades Of Grey?
Fifty Shades Of Grey was once the hottest books published, hot on the press, and hot between the pages. Book depository said this erotic novel is, "Romantic, liberating and totally addictive."
EL James’s erotic novels became the fastest selling paperback novels, passing the one million mark in 11 weeks, and smashing the record, previously set by Dan Brown’s – The Da Vinci Code, 36-week mark. (JK Rowling holds the single week record across all genres).
BBC confirmed that the Sequels Fifty Shades Darker sold 245,801, and Fifty Shades Freed sold 212,832 across last week, with the entire series outselling the rest of the top 50 by about two to one.
But who owned up to reading them????
While sitting around the pool on holiday to Port Douglas, I looked up and every woman, including myself, was glued to the max in these books. But no one ever owned up to reading them.
We loved the books, (evident by the sales), and couldn’t get enough of them. But I must admit, (and I apologize now, but hey, I am only a red hot woman), I loved the first two books, but by the third, I couldn’t wait for it to all end.
Then we had the movies, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson as the leading roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Could things get any hotter?
Even though we don’t all love what Christian is about sexually, what we do love is:
He is Anastasia’s knight in shining armor.
He loves her unconditionally and is willing to do anything for her.
He is gorgeous, rich and powerful.
He is adventurous.
He is always there to rescue her.
And the big one – he is erotic, sensual, sexy, and romantic.
One night at home, by myself, I watched Fifty Shades Of Grey. I was happy until the kids interrupted. One of their friends (in his 20’s) sat next to me and asked what I was watching, which I told him. Then he asked what it is about? I politely answered, “a dominatrix guy who uses sex as power over women!” He left the couch quickly, and my kids want to know why I can’t be a regular Mum.
Anyway, Christian was a dominatrix for a reason and what we have witnessed so far is Anastasia rescuing Christian right back.
In the latest movie “50 Shades Freed” we see Christian and Anastasia as a married couple. But disaster happens (oh no) when Ana’s former boss, Jack Hyde, threatens her life as revenge for being fired by Christian.
We also see the return of Elena, who comes back to make the cute couples life more difficult.
The great news is we have a trailer for you. The bad news is Australians; we need to wait until February 9th for a release date.
Did you read the books?
Will you be seeing the movie?
